A coworker sent me a link today, and my immediate thought was of Minority Report. Watch this video and you will understand. Here’s a YouTube video of Jeff Han, one of the developers of this new multi-touch screen technology, given at the 2006 TED conference. On a smaller scale, this is similar stuff to the touch screen of the new Apple iPhone. You can watch that in action here for the full keynote, or check here for the Wikipedia’s info on the iPhone touch screen.

The band known for their apple logo appears to be in talks with the company known for their apple logo. This could be a huge coup for Apple Computers, and the iPod/iTunes market, given the recent release of the Zune. I would be one of the crazies looking to pony up the cash for a special Beatles iPod.

As some are aware, Microsquish released their “iPod killer” today, named Zune. This is what CNN has to say. The best is when the female anchor rhetorically asks why she would want to buy the large, clunky Zune when she just bought the small, sexy iPod Shuffle. Good times.

Are you familiar with those Get a Mac advertisements? Well, even “PC” uses a Mac, and has for a long time.

I saw a post today for a Mac app that allows you to spin some virtual turntables, and create music mixes, complete with crossfades and pitch and tempo modulation. The app is called Djay. I played around with it a little bit, and I’m definitely going to be wasting a lot of time with it.
I had del.icio.us bookmarked it this morning, but couldn’t remember what the refering website was. So, I went out to Technorati to see if I could find it (I don’t think I did) and came across this other site that had also linked to Djay today, coolosxapps.net. I hadn’t ever been to this site before, and was immediately blown away by the amount of applications that have been covered by them. This is a new favorite site of mine!

Found this today. This official list shows a ton of shortcut keystrokes that you can use in Mac OS X to do specific tasks. I also found this for those who are using Windows XP. Shortcut love all around.

I made the switch today. That’s right, I joined the growing legions of people switching from Windows to Macintosh. What did I get, you may ask? I decided to go small. So far things seem to be going great. I didn’t really do a lot with it tonight. Just got it setup, including the installation of Firefox and all of my extensions and getting my iTunes library populated.
Why? Lots of reasons, but I’ll put this article out there as my first reason. Plus, with Apple changing to the Intel chip I thought this was a great time to make the switch. Every time I’ve used a Mac, even with my old Performa back in college, I’ve enjoyed working on it. Can’t necessarily say the same for Windows. I look forward to my new, mini friend. I hope you look forward to hearing about it

Today Apple introduced their new MacBook Pro and an update to the iMac model. These are the first two systems to use the Intel processors that Apple announced they are switching to back in June 2005.
A little history lesson. In 1978 Intel released the 8086 processor. This is the processor that “fathered” the 286/386/486 lines and Pentium lines. In the personal computer world the 8086 is a founding father . . . the George Washington of micro-processors if you will.
In today’s stock market news — the day that Apple introduces their first Intel based products — Apple stock closed at $80.86. I know that price fixing on the stock market like this would be extremely difficult, and probably impossible, but still . . . it’s almost too strange to be a coincidence.

I’ve started a page (also available off to the side) with a list of my favorite FREE software. I got the idea from here. Leave me comments as to your favorite free software, and maybe I’ll add it to the list
