What do you do for a kid who is being potty trained, and hasn’t had an accident in one week? You get that boy a balloon!
What do you do when that balloon comes loose and flies away? You tell the boy that the balloon is all gone — which he repeats by saying “ba-woon ahh gone” — and his 2.5 year old attention span takes him onto the next greatest thing…running in circles.
Ahh gone.
I’ve been busy recently, and haven’t been blogging much (obviously). You may be wondering what I’ve been up to. Well, this is what I’ve been working on. In case that doesn’t quite make sense, I’ve been working on a web redesign for the Yearly Meeting. It’s not completely done yet, but we’ve gone live with it.
Aj sent me a link today that I just had to pass along. Baby Rock Records takes songs from famous rockers and lullaby-ifies them! There’s nothing like some baby Nirvana, Radiohead, Zeppelin, and U2. Oh, and don’t forget the baby Metallica and Tool 
They’ve even put some short clips online, so go give a listen…you know you want to.
It’s amazing to hear my 2.5 year old son say the same things as I do. It really makes me wonder what I say, and how often I say it.
I was taking a load off this evening playing some MLB2k6, and doing an overall poor job at it. It was the bottom of the 9th, I was up to bat, down by 1 run. With every swing-and-miss that I did Judah would exclaim loudly, “Oh geez!”
All of a sudden my mind is whirling with, “Did he just say that? Was that ‘cheese’ or ‘geez?’ I haven’t been saying that, have I?”
I guess that’s on par with when he repeated after me yesterday. I was working on something, and in a moment of exasperation I said “crap.” Not five seconds later I heard my echo, “cwap.”
Awww cr… ge… dan… DOH!
I’m in the process of starting up a new blog venture, and I’m having some good fun getting it up off the ground.
A few months ago Sarah stopped by my office at work, and we had a great catch-up conversation (she lives in Boise and does missions work, so we only see each other once or twice a year). She made a comment about how she reads Aj’s blogs frequently, but mine only once in a while. The reason: I write mostly about tech stuff and not so much about family and life. I have to admit that there is definite truth to that.
In the months following that conversation I thought about that one statement, wondering what (if anything) I would do in response to it. I eventually decided to take a similar path as two people I interact with daily, Bren and my wife. Bren has a personal blog and a business blog. Aj has a personal/mama blog and a religious/Quaker thought blog. I now have my personal blog (this is it) and a tech blog.
Sarah — I’ll be putting my tech content elsewhere from now on, so don’t ignore this too much

A coworker sent me a link today, and my immediate thought was of Minority Report. Watch this video and you will understand. Here’s a YouTube video of Jeff Han, one of the developers of this new multi-touch screen technology, given at the 2006 TED conference. On a smaller scale, this is similar stuff to the touch screen of the new Apple iPhone.
